One of Brazil's most promising talents of his generation, Ocimar has won numerous violin competitions, including The New Talent Festival, Làszlò Spezzaferri International Music Competition, Valsesia Juniores International Music Competition, Quebec International Music Competition and the Nouvelles Etoiles International Music Competition.
In 2020 during the New Talent Competition, by unanimous jury decision, Ocimar was awarded for his presentation and performance of a composition by Frank Bridge, where he won the Special Prize of the British Musical Society in London.
Throughout his career, Ocimar has participated in prestigious festivals, academies, and orchestras worldwide, including performances in the Salzburger Festspiele, Grafenegg Festival and the Berliner Festspiele. He has had the opportunity to work with and learn from great conductors such as Marin Alsop, Mei-Ann Chen, Petr Popelka, Leopold Hager, Sian Edwards, Johannes Klumpp, Tomáš Hanus, Milan Turkovic, Yutaka Sado and Bertrand de Billy.
Versatile as a violinist, he performs regularly as a soloist, chamber musician, and concertmaster.
As concertmaster, he has collaborated with the Webern Kammerphilharmonie in Vienna, recording a CD with pieces by Franz Schubert, the Mallorca Chamber Orchestra, the Valsassina Ensemble Wien, during the open air concert at the Donauinselfest, broadcasted by ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Network). He has performed in concert halls such as the Musikverein Vienna, Philharmonie Berlin, Festspielhaus Salzburg, Brucknerhaus Linz, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Stefaniensaal Graz, Herkulessaal Munich, Shanghai Art Center, Tokyo Opera City among many others.
Ocimar began his musical journey at the age of four under the guidance of his father, starting with piano before transitioning to violin. He later continued his studies at the São Paulo State Music School with Professor Liliana Chriac.
In 2016, at the invitation of Prof. Daniel Auner, Ocimar began his studies in Vienna, at the Conservatory of Music. Since 2019 he is studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts of Graz, in the class of Prof. Maighréad McCrann. He is currently enrolled in the Master's program and in 2024 he received his Bachelor's degree with honours.
Further studies, include masterclasses and workshops with Daniel Rowland (Brodsky Quartet), Alexander Pavlosvsky (Jerusalem Quartet), Zakhar Bron, Rüdiger Liebermann (Berliner Philharmoniker), Grigory Kalinovsky (Indiana Jacobs School), Igor Ozim, Chia Chou (Chamber Music), Henrik Hochschild (Concertmaster Gewandhausorchester), and Albena Danailova (Concertmaster Vienna Philharmonic) complement his formation. He also completed the intensive course of the Academy of the Tiroler Festspiele Erl and the Summer Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic in Salzburg.
In 2023, Ocimar received a temporary contract with the Tonkünstler Orchestra in Vienna, and in 2024, he won the academy position for the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
He is part of the Mentoring Program and is generously supported by the Foster Foundation.
Ocimar plays on a fine Italian violin made by Carlo Testore from 1707.
